The Massachusetts Broadcasters Association is very proud to bring not one but TWO great seminars to this year’s Sound Bites Annual Meeting and Mingling Event.  Each seminar will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 1 at the Verve Crowne Plaza in Natick, MA.

First, back by popular demand, is renowned sales trainer Paul Weyland.  Paul will present “Think like an Adman and Sell like a Madman.”

Weyland will show your staff how to take control of the front-end of the local direct sale (the creative idea) and the back-end, asking for and getting an annual commitment.  Weyland covers how to come up with million-dollar ideas your clients will want to buy, at rate card. Then Paul shows you how to do a simple ROI calculation that motivates clients to want to triple or quadruple their investment on your station, regardless of your rates, ratings, market size or format.

You’ll also learn the importance of cutting through clutter by using headlines that compel local decision makers to return your calls and emails, how to draft a proposal that your clients will want to read and why your price is the last thing you should compromise when trying to attract new business, even in a recession.

Because this is a Paul Weyland session, not only will you come away with dozens of ideas you can use immediately, but you’ll also be thoroughly entertained.

For the other side of the building, the MBA presents Valerie Geller and NEVER LOSE A LISTENER! (or Viewer!)  Geller is a talent coach, trainer, and workshop/seminar leader – working with personalities, newsrooms, journalists and content providers in 30 countries to help grow their audiences using the proven POWERFUL COMMUNICATOR techniques.  Geller says “there are NO boring stories, only boring storytellers!”  If your goal is to become a more powerful communicator Geller’s session will teach proven techniques to help you get, keep and grow your audience–across all platforms–no matter the medium.

After the stellar seminars, stick around for a cocktail reception with a drink on us and some GREAT food from the Verve Hotel.  We’ll hold our short Annual Meeting and then hear the comedy of local legend Jimmy Dunn!  You might know him, among other things, from the Olympia Sports commercials.

After Jimmy performs we’ll kick off the MBA Broadcasting Awards.  This soon to be annual event will showcase some of the best work that Massachusetts radio and over-the-air television stations have to offer!

Admission to Sound Bites is only $10 and all proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Register here and we’ll see you on November 1!
