MA stations receive accolades for work in news, sports, advertising and public service
Medford, MA (November, 13 2015) – Awards were handed out to broadcast stations in twelve categories at the Sound Bites Awards sponsored by the Massachusetts Broadcaster’s Association on Thursday, November 12 at Framingham Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center, where CMA Award winning singer-songwriter Lori McKenna provided the entertainment for the evening.
The winners of the night in the Station of the Year category were WMRC-AM and WCVB-TV for radio and television, respectively. This is the third consecutive year that WCVB-TV has taken home this honor. Hot 96.9 WBQT-FM and Western Mass News (WSHM-WGGB) were runners up in the Station of the Year category.
Best On-Air Personality for radio went to WSRS-FM’s “Greg and Suzanne in the Morning” and the “New Frank Morning Show” with Stephanie Viva and Steve McVie receiving the merit award. For television, Best On-Air Personality went to WCVB-TV’s Ed Harding, with WCVB’s Heather Unruh receiving the merit award.
WCVB-TV was the night’s biggest winner with five first place awards. Long-time Boston radio personality Candy O’Terry was named the 2015 Broadcaster of the Year. A complete list of winners is below.
