Western Mass News (WMN), a Meredith owned and operated television station, is looking for an Intern to join our team! We offer a structured, part-time 12 weeks paid internship in our news department focusing on news and production.
The Newsroom Internship is designed to provide meaningful and challenging projects specifically designed to enhance the academic focus of the student’s major emphasis. The Internship is designed to augment a student’s academic studies while assisting WMN news to achieve high quality investigative journalism.
Our Newsroom Intern will work independently and collaboratively across teams to provide research and data for newsroom projects identified by senior leadership and in conjunction with on-air journalists. Critical thinking and analytical skills will be encouraged and sharpened. Interns will participate in news meetings, where they’ll learn more about how news developments take shape and will deliver status reports on the research and production they are performing.
Our intern must have strong communication skills, as well as good project management and planning skills.
Strong working knowledge of community and social networking/web and related software may be necessary.
May also assist our Interactive group in the delivery of content for our digital platforms.
Work hours and duties may vary from week to week, based on the assignment.
